*THE GREATEST OF ALL MEN*
(John 9:18-12 & 35-38)
A great miracle had taken place: A man blind from birth was healed by (vs 11) “a man that is called Jesus”. The Pharisees had cast this man out of the Synagogue and Jesus had heard of it and found the man and asked him a question (vs 35). The man replied with a powerful question (vs 36).
*I want to close out the series with a thought I will read which needs little or no comments:
He was born in a manger, lived 30 years in obscurity. At 33 ½ years of age, He was condemned to death as a blasphemer of God and was crucified. In 3 ½ years of public life, in a small corner of the world, He made such an impression that after 2,000 years the leading nations of the world count time from His birth.
His birth was contrary to the Laws of Life. His death was contrary to the Laws of Death. He had no wheat field or fisheries, yet he could spread a table for 5,000 and have bread and fish to spare. He walked on no beautiful carpets or velvet rugs, but He walked on the Sea of Galilee.
1 He never wrote a book, yet 1,000’s of volumes have been written about him.
2 His words have been translated into more that 1,000 languages.
3 He composed no music yet 1,000s’s of songs exalt His Lordship.
4 He built no sanctuary yet millions of churches have been built in which to worship Him.
5 He had no formal schooling yet many of today’s great institutions, medical and educational, were founded by those who were His followers.
6 He raised no army yet those who would fight for His Truth and Principles number in the millions.
7 To compare other men to Him is like comparing their candle light to the blazing brightness of the sun.
Jesus: The world cannot understand Him.
Armies cannot defeat Him.
Leaders cannot ignore Him.
Jesus: The Pharisees could not stop Him.
Herod could not kill Him.
Death could not handle Him.
Jesus: Came to this earth through a virgin womb
And left through a virgin tomb.
*Jesus: He is
1 Our shelter in the time of storms
2 Our sunshine in the time of darkness
3 Our shield in the midst of battle
4 Our strength in the time of weakness
5 Our supplier in the time of need
*He is: Our Lamb to redeem us, our Brother to love us, our Tower to secure us, our Fountain to cleanse us, our Bread to sustain us, our Wisdom to guide us, our Joy to flood our soul.
*He is: Our Substitution, our Redemption, our Foundation, our Reconciliation, our Justification, our Sanctification, our glorification.
May we all pray that that the lost will ask the question found in (vs 36) “who is He, that I might believe on Him”.
