A Study on How to
Be a Growing and Joyful Christian
Philippians 4: 1
* The statement "stand fast" means
to be stable, grounded, rooted, established.
* In this chapter the Apostle gives us nine ways to be
the Christian God can bless and use.
1. Be Enthusiastic
Verse 4
How can we show the reality of a Risen Savior if our attitude shows we still think He is still in the tomb?
2. Be Gentle
Verse 5
Moderation means a life lived in readiness with a desire to show consideration and gentleness to others.
3. Be Peaceful
Verses 6,7
Peace comes through prayer and trust in God's ability to supply.
4. Be Positive
Verse 8
Think loving, pure thoughts. Being negative will hurt us.
5. Be Teachable
Verse 9
Not only are we to let God teach us, but look out among someone who reveals the right way in living for Christ and learn from them also.
6. Be Content
Verses 10,11,12
Our natural attitude is to complain. Contentment is realizing that God is providing everything we need.
7. Be Expectant
Verse 13
Remember who it is that is working in your life: It is the Lord Jesus Christ.
8. Be Generous
Verses 14,15,16,17,18
Christians cannot be stingy. Remember the Savior's Words: "It is more blessed to Give than Receive".
9. Be Fulfilled
Verse 19
The Philippians' needs were met because they saw to Paul's needs. This is the divine principle of giving and receiving. Note: Take each point over the next 9 days and build up scriptures to help grow in each area. |
