Matthew 21:33-46
Our Lord is
on His way toward Calvary, there to die for our sins. He
comes face to face with His enemies, who question His
authority
(Vs 23).
* If I had to find a Key
verse in this parable, it would be
Vs 37
* A great truth is revealed
in this verse that causes us to reflect on
John 3:16
* The parallel parables -
(Mark 12 and Luke 20)
This
parable reveals God, who worked patiently with these
husbandmen.
Husbandman means: A tiller or farmer of land.
(see I Corinthians 3)
In the spiritual life, we
are to be Laborers with God in His Harvest. As we look
into what Jesus was saying, we see the stern rebuke of the
religious crowd and its leaders.

A Parable About Planting
Vs 33 |
| |
The Lord Jesus tells them a story
about a man who's got a certain piece of land (the
world)
(1) He plants
(2) He puts a hedge about it
(3) He digs a winepress to allow juices of the fruit
to drain in it
(4) He builds a tower to watch for enemies and to
protect
(5) He then leaves husbandmen to care for and bring
forth fruit in due season.
Note: Householder is God, the Husbandmen is Israel
(Vs 45).
Because they rejected, He will go to another nation or
people (Gentiles)
(Vs 43)
John 1:11
The Point is, God has provided everything that was
necessary to bring forth fruit; they and we are
laboring on others' work.
Joshua 24:13
Our work is not to criticize and fight with one
another, but to bear fruit; Souls for Christ. |

A Parable About Privilege
Vs 34-39 |
| |
They were sinning against Privilege.
(1) Look what God has done for you
(2) Look what you have not done for Him
No people in all the world have been blessed as we in
America.
Romans 5:10
We were enemies of the Cross, but
someone was burdened enough to pray, to witness to
you. |

A Parable About Punishment
Vs 40-42 |
| |
Those whom Jesus was talking to
condemned themselves.
Vs 43-46
Two Thoughts
(1) To those who are lost
Matthew 27:22
They rejected Him - what will you do? You can have
Mercy or Judgment.
Vs 44
(2) To those who are saved
Are we ungrateful? Are we refusing the Son by our
neglecting to bear fruit? |
