Matthew 13:45-46
Revealed in this parable is
one of the most blessed truths about Jesus Christ and the
Church.
Understanding two statements Jesus made :
(vs 45)
“a merchant man: is the Lord Jesus Christ and in the
scriptures we get an understanding of His Person, Power,
and Purpose.
(John 1:41)
(Matthew
16:13-18)
In vs 45
it is Jesus who is seeking: He is the virgin born, He is
God in the Flesh, He is the Messiah.
Notice two words in
(Matthew 16)
“my” and “church”
| (1) |
“My” - He did not
say I will build your church or you will
build my church.
(I Corithians 3)
Any growth is God’s increase. If men must glory in
something, let it be as the Apostle Paul said
(Galatians 6) |
| (2) |
“Church”
(vs 46) This
parable is about the Lord Jesus and His church
purchased by blood.
(Acts 20:28 & I Corinthians
6:19-20)
(Ephesians 5)
“Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for
it” |
A question still
remains: Why does He use the term “Pearl”?
| (1) |
A Pearl comes from a
living organism
(Hebrews 7:25) |
| (2) |
A Pearl is formed from a
tiny, common gain of sand
(I Peter 2:9-10) |
| (3) |
A Pearl is a product of
suffering and death
(Acts 20:28) |
| (4) |
A Pearl is formed over a
long period of time
(Ephesians 4:11-16) |
| (5) |
A Pearl is beautiful to
behold
( I John 3:1-2) |
| One day,
without spot, blemish or wrinkle, we will be present
as a bride to our Bridegroom, Jesus Christ. |
