Matthew 13:31-32
Christ has spoken about the
Mustard Seed before, when He spoke of Faith but there is a
difference this time.
*Notice a mustard seed placed into the ground and it
produces a tree. A mustard seed in an herb and when grown
is a shrub not a tree. So what is Jesus revealing in this
parable?
*In this chapter several parables are given. The Sower &
Soil, The Wheat & Tares, The Leaven, and as we’ve seen
they deal with real Christianity.
Two different interpretations given:
| (1) |
That though starting out small, the church will become
greater in the earth. |
| (2) |
The Tree represent all those who march under a
Christian Banner but it is not genuine Christianity.
The birds represents the many false religions and
teachings that shall fill the world.
(II Timothy 3:13) |
| *So how
should we look at this parable? |
1. Know for sure that
you are a Christian
(II Timothy
1:9-12)
Do you know for sure?
The ultimate call of the Church is to preach the Gospel to
the lost.
(Romans 1:16)
(I John 5:11-13)
2. Know the Word of God
(Hebrews 5:11-14)
| (1) |
How can we recognize error? |
| (2) |
How does one discern between what is right and what is
wrong biblically?
(John 17:17)
(John 8:32) |
| Examples :
Expound on some of the False Doctrines of our times. |
3. Know the Spirit of
God
(I John 4:1-3)
(John 16:7-15)
| (1) |
The Holy Spirit will not honor men above Jesus Christ |
| (2) |
The Holy Spirit will honor Jesus Christ and magnify
Him before all men |
