Part 5: "Prayer and the Home"
Acts 12:5

Read  Acts 12
It is a story of Persecution, Prayer and Deliverance & Judgment.
The saints gather at Mary's house; she is the mother of John Mark. The purpose of them gathering is to pray for Peter. James, the brother of John, had already been put to death and Peter was facing the same.

This story reveals certain facts:
  (1) People ought to Pray (vs 5)
  (2) That God Answers Prayer (vs 17)
  (3) Sometimes we are not prepared for the answer (vs 16)
  (4) Prayer should have definite request (vs 5)
  (5) Praying in the Home (vs 12)

Bible facts about Prayer in the Home

1. Whole-hearted prayer will make a house into a Home
Some of us have discovered that when Jesus comes into our house, that which was once filled with discord, is filled with peace and joy.
I believe that when people begin to neglect prayer, Bible reading, and church attendance, it will rob us of a true home.
  The Christian Home will:
  (1) Pray earnestly and sincerely
  (2) Pray about all things big and small
  (3) Pray thankfully

2. Genuine prayer will bring Miracles
Note: Rhoda's praying released the Power of God.
  (1) Prayer will supply the needs of your home, whether it be Spiritual or Physical
  (2) Prayer will bring healing
  (3) Prayer will restore wholeness in a family divided (I Peter 3:1-12)

3. Honest, sincere prayer will keep out sinful actions
Sin is always knocking at your door. Temptations are ever present. By God's grace and prayer, they are defeated.

4. Definite prayer will bring souls to the Savior
When we read Romans 9 & 10 we see the burden of the Apostle Paul for his people.
Every Christian should have a burden for other families they know with lost ones.
  (1) Pray for them by name
  (2) Pray every day faithfully for them
  (3) Pray fervently: Have a deep burden that will keep you praying until it is answered.

5. Hindrances to your prayers
  (1) Having a wrong motive
(James 4: 2,3)
  (2) Having unconfessed sin in your life
(Isaiah 59: 1,2)
  (3) Having an unforgiven spirit
(Mark 11: 25)
