Part2:
The Heart of Jesus' Prayer
John 17:1-3
If you were to ask
several people "What was Jesus concerned about?" and "What
was on His heart?", you would probably get these answers:
| |
1. He had a heart filled with love. |
| |
2. He had a heart of giving. |
| |
3. He had a heart of concern for His
fellow man. |
* All of these are true, but as we read
(John 17), we
see there was much more on His heart
* Sometimes on this Highway of Christianity, we allow
little things to annoy us, to distract us. When this
happens, we need to slow down and see if we are still
going in the right direction; to see if our heart has the
same purpose as our Savior's.

Jesus prayed concerning Glory
(vs 1) |
The Glory Jesus prayed about was that
Glory which would be the Reflection of the Glory of His
Father.
| Glory means: |
That which brings Praise, Adoration
and High Honor |
Tragically, too many want that glory
themselves. (Luke 17: 7-10)
and (I Corinthians 1: 31)
When we read the Book of Acts, we see
the Unity of the early church: One heart, one purpose, one
doctrine. (Psalm 133)

Jesus prayed concerning
Evangelism (vs 20) |
There can be no doubt, if you look at
Jesus' life and read His word, He was very passionate
about lost souls. (Matt 9: 36-38)
and (Matt 28: 18-20)
Every Christian should be serious about bringing others to
Christ.

Jesus prayed concerning Heaven
(vs 24) |
Heaven is a Prepared
Place for a Prepared People.
(John 14: 1-6)
Everything Jesus did was so that we could be forgiven and
made ready to inherit that home called Heaven.
