Matthew 22:1-4

1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

In reading this Parable we cannot over-look the fact of the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ (1 Thess 4)
Revelation 19 tells us of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb in which all who are saved shall attend.
*It is by invitation and you have a choose as to whether you will attend.
(Rev 22:17) And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

*Explanation of the "who's" in this Parable:

  Certain King - God
  Son - Jesus Christ
  Servants - Prophets and Preachers
Those bidden - Jews / Nation of Israel
  Bad & Good - Gentiles
*Consider in this Parable the Total Disregard for God:

1.
There was a Total Disregard for the King’s Invitation

(Verses 2-5)
- 2
The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
Verse 3  - “They would not come” Notice it says would not, not could not.
John 1:11,12 - 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Verse 5 “They made light of it” - They treated it with contempt and unimportance.

2. There was a Total Disregard for the King’s Messengers

(Verse 4,6) - 4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
Moses, Jeremiah, and others were mocked, ridiculed, stoned, imprisoned.
*There is an irritation that arises from being made aware and convicted when lost and in sin.
John 15:18-22 - 18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

3 There was a Total Disregard for the King’s Provision
(Verses 4,11) - 4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage
11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
There was one present who was not dressed properly.
*It was a custom in those days for a King to provide invited guest with colorful robes, this man refused. Was he thinking I’m good enough?:
Isaiah 64:6 - But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
I
saiah 61:10 - I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
II Cor 5:21 - For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Phil 3:9 -
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
